1 Area children who haven’t sent their letters to Santa still have a few days left to use the special mailbox at Central Park. The letters will be sent straight to the North Pole to Santa’s Workshop. Don’t forget to include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your letter to Santa and he will personally answer each letter. The last day for Santa’s Mailbox is Friday.

2 The Goddard Center’s Met Opera series continues at 7 p.m. Tuesday with a showing of Richard Jones’s production of Engelbert Humperdinck’s  “Hansel and Gretel,” a fairytale opera based on the Brothers Grimm story.
Originally conceived as a small-scale vocal entertainment for children, “Hansel and Gretel” resonates with adults as well, and has become one of the most successful fairytale operas ever created. The opera acknowledges the darker features present in the Brothers Grimm version of the familiar folk tale, yet presents them within a frame of grace and humor.

3 E-gamers will once again have a shot at showing off their skills Saturday during Anime City’s Xbox One “Killer Instinct” tournament. Based on the 1994 arcade game, “Killer Instinct” was rebooted for the Xbox One in 2013. Killer Instinct is a “button masher” similar to the cult classics Mortal Combat, Tekken and the Dead or Alive series. The tournament begins at 6 p.m.

4 The Goddard Center will host the Texas Boys Choir at 7 p.m. Saturday. Steeped in the tradition of European church choirs, members of TCB begin their intensive vocal training at a young age. The repertoire draws heavily from sacred traditions of the early Renaissance and Baroque periods in music history.
The choir continues to earn its reputation as one of the premier boy choirs in the world. This pursuit of excellence continues to inspire young people today, both artistically and academically. There will be an outreach performance for area students.

5 The next installment of the iconic Star Wars franchise, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” begins in theaters nationwide Thursday. To celebrate the now-annual release of a Star Wars film, Fenton Nissan of Ardmore will host a Star Wars costume contest at 1 p.m. Saturday.
