Unfortunately, V-A gave the Lady Blue Devils something about as pleasant as a lump of coal, as Ringling was defeated 51-30, giving the Lady Blue Devils their third straight loss, dropping them to 5-4 on the season.

A 16-4 opening quarter by the Lady Comets put them in front, before Velma-Alma outscored Ringling 17-11 before halftime to increase the lead.

Ringling managed just three points in the third quarter, while the Lady Comets scored 12.

The Lady Blue Devils had their best offensive frame in the fourth, outscoring the Lady Comets 12-6.

Kelsea Thompson led Ringling with six points, followed by Kassidy Perkins and Mariah Martin each with five points.

Rhyme Tolliver and Sydney Southward each scored four points in the game.

Velma-Alma was led on the night by Lyndei Mercer with 28 points to lead all scorers.

Ringling will be off until Jan. 9 for a game against Walters.

It was a rough night as well on the boys side, as the Comets defeated the Blue Devils by a score of 50-19.

The defeat was the fourth in a row by the Blue Devils, and drops them to 4-5 on the season.

Ringling managed to stay within five points at the end of the first quarter, down 13-8.

Unfortunately, a 10-2 run by the Comets before halftime put the Blue Devils in a 23-10 deficit.

V-A added 18 points in the third quarter to increase the advantage, while the Blue Devils managed to score just four points.

The game was finished off with a 9-5 fourth quarter in favor of the Comets.

Zackary Cargile led the Blue Devils with nine points in the contest.
