The Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation is now looking into accusations of official misconduct against a member of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The trooper, part of Troop F, is stationed in Carter County.
Jessica Brown, OSBI press information officer, said the investigation began on Nov. 29 at the request of the Carter County Sheriff’s Department.
Brown did not specify the contents of the allegations but said the investigation is still underway.
“We are a free resource for law enforcement,” Brown said. “It’s pretty common for them to ask us to take over these types of investigations.”
OHP Captain Paul Timmons said the Oklahoma Highway Patrol would more than likely conduct its own investigation once the OSBI has concluded its investigation.
“We aren’t aware of what allegations are being made, since it was turned over to the OSBI.” Timmons said.
Timmons said the trooper was currently on a paid suspension and that no further decisions would be made until the OSBI and OHP conclude their investigations.
