A Davis High School teacher resigned from the school and married a 16-year-old student.
Online court records show that 34-year-old Cassandra White and the student filed a marriage license in Cleveland County, a press release from Davis Police Department confirmed the marriage.
“The marriage license showed that Cassandra White, 34, and the 16-year old student had filed for the license on December 13, 2013,” the release stated. “The Juvenile’s father was present when it was filed.”
The release also stated the department’s domestic and sexual assault crimes investigator is investigating the incident.
The Davis School District released a statement as well, explaining the former teacher is no longer employed by the district.
“The District is currently cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation of these allegations,” the release stated. “The District will not comment further on this matter because of the ongoing criminal investigation and confidentiality rights of the parties involved.”
