Marietta — Services to celebrate the life of Charlcie V. Hefley of Marietta, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, in the Chapel of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta. Officiating will be Bro. Travis Huffman, assisted by Bro. Tony Lalli. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, will follow under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
The daughter of John R. Mahan and Myrtle Allenbaugh Mahan, Charlcie was born April 3, 1923 in Meeker, Okla., the fourth of five children. She went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 16, at Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta, at the age of 94.
A 1942 high school graduate, Charlcie married Gen. Pershing Hefley in Seminole on Dec. 12, 1941, while she was still in high school. As a military family, the couple and their three children had many good years moving around the country. Following his retirement they purchased a ranch in Loves Valley where they raised Santa Gertrudis cattle, and then a few years following his death on Feb. 15, 1978 she moved to Marietta. Charlcie loved to work, especially as a caregiver, whether it be as the wife of a military man, as a mother or as a care provider for people in the community. She was also a very devoted member of the Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert J. and Paula Hefley of Tahlequah, and Paul and Carolyn Hefley of Owensville, Mo.; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Steve Fancy of Vancouver, Wash.; brother, Martin Mahan of Stillwater; six grandchildren, Lisa, Marisa, Kim, John, Karen and Brett; and six great-grandchildren.
Serving as casket bearers will be Duane Hicks, Zack King, Vance Parr, Finley Morgan, John Thompson and Danny Frazier.
Time of visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 1 p.m. until service time.
