Memorial services for Dennis Ray Lavers will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at The Asbury United Methodist Church, Ardmore, Okla., with Randal Richards officiating.
Dennis was born May 31, 1938, at Ardmore, Okla., to Ervin Roy Lavers and Rena Mae Stracner Lavers. He died at the age of 79, on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, in Ardmore, Okla.
Dennis was a member of Ardmore High School Class of 1956.
He retired after 28 years from Noble Energy Inc. and consulted an additional nine years. He was one of the founders of the Ardmore Dragway and a member of the Slow Pokes Car Club.
Dennis was an avid bowler in his younger years and loved playing golf and restoring cars. He enjoyed driving his 1948 Chevrolet Businessman’s Coupe and a 1973 Volkswagen in local parades.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, beloved son Harlan Lavers, daughter Rhenea Aldridge, brothers Russell, Harlan, Sullivan and Gary Lavers and sister Terry Saegner.
He is survived by his wife, Leslie, of the home and their two children, daughters Keisha Frantom and husband Brett and grandson Kinsler, Piedmont, Okla., and Kara McDaniel and husband Brian and grandchildren Chloe, Holling and Bryn, Benton, Ark. A grandson, Evan Lavers and wife Jamie and great-granddaughter Avery Jane, Ardmore, Okla. Also, daughter-in-law, Garie Lavers Thomas and husband Cory, Ardmore, Okla., and son Greg Lavers, Ardmore, Okla.
Other grandchildren are Kaitlin, Chelsea, Ethan and Collin Aldridge and two step grandchildren Valerie Bean and Geoff Horn.
The family would like to express appreciation to Cross Timbers Hospice for care and support and appreciation to the staff at Southbrook Nursing Home.
