For the first time this season Thursday night, the No. 2 Ardmore Tigers were faced with overtime.

Unfortunately, the maiden voyage into an extra period didn’t provide a positive result as the Tigers were defeated by Stillwater 62-56 in the opening round of the Arvest Classic in Bartlesville.

Stillwater came out strong in the first quarter, leading Ardmore 17-6.

The Tigers outscored the Pioneers 15-12 in the second quarter, but still trailed going into the halftime break 29-21.

After both teams scored eight points in the third quarter, it was Ardmore exploding for 22 points in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 51-51.

However, Stillwater had a little extra left in the tank as the Pioneers outscored the Tigers 11-5 in the extra session.

Jamal Clark had 21 points to lead the Tigers (7-3), with Bertom Sanchez scoring 14 points.
