Happy Gladden, Jr. passed away on July 28, 2017, at his home in Ardmore. He was born Sept. 30, 1951, in Ardmore to William Chester and Sadie Mae (Wheeler) Gladden. He was raised in Springer and attended Springer Schools. He held many jobs throughout his life, but was especially skilled as a carpenter. For the past many years, he worked with the crisis center helping and supporting those that needed it. In many ways he was helping himself also.
His name ‘Happy’ fit him so well. He was always willing to help a friend or a stranger he did not know. He would give his shirt off his back and never ask for it back. Happy loved to laugh, and it was usually a very loud one. If he was your friend it was for life. If he said he loved you, then you could bank on it.
There will be a celebration of Happy’s life at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 at Provence Cemetery.
Happy is survived by two sons, Happy Gladden Jr. and Mike Gladden; five grandchildren, Brittney, Elizabeth, Ashley, Delvan and Tony; three great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons; and more friends than can be mentioned.
