Funeral services for Thomas Stephenson, 67, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home. Burial with U.S. Air Force military honors will follow at Jehovah Cemetery.
Son of the late Tom and Rosie McGee Favors Stephenson, Thomas was born Oct. 3, 1950, in Ardmore and passed away Jan. 13, 2018. at the Ardmore Veterans Center.
Thomas graduated from Ardmore’s Douglass High School, the class of 1968. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, enlisting in 1969 and served during the Vietnam Era. For his service, Sgt. Stephenson was awarded the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, the Republic of Vietnam Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal with Three Bronze Stars, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, a Presidential Unit Citation and the National Defense Service Medal.
An inspiration to all who knew him, Thomas was of Baptist faith, and worked as a carpenter. He will be missed, but not forgotten.
Surviving family, who will forever cherish precious memories of Thomas, include his sisters, Wanda Stevenson and Ira Roberts; his brothers, Jerry and Charles Stephenson; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dorothy Knight and brother, Emery Stephenson.
