There will be no shortage of area teams in action across the state today, as squads prepare to play their final regular season tournaments of the season before the playoffs.

The No. 20 Sulphur Lady Bulldogs will be in action today at the Heart of Oklahoma Tournament taking on Tuttle at 3:50 p.m., with the winner meeting either Purcell or Anadarko in the semifinals Friday evening at 6:30 p.m.

As for the Sulphur Bulldogs, they will also be facing Tuttle at 5:10 p.m. this evening with the winner meeting either Vanoss or Anadarko in the semifinals at 5:10 Friday.

Most of the other area teams will be competing in the Tishomingo Invitational tournament beginning today.

First round matches will include on the girls side, the Kingston Lady Redskins taking on Atoka at noon, the Marietta Lady Indians facing Latta at 2:30 p.m., while the Madill Lady Wildcats will play against Pauls Valley at 5 p.m., with the Dickson Lady Comets finishing out the day against Tishomingo at 7:30 p.m.

On the boys side, the Dickson Comets will open the tournament at 1:15 p.m. against Atoka, while Madill will take on No. 1 Kingston at 3:45 p.m., with Marietta facing Tishomingo at 8:45 p.m. in the final game of the day.

The other first round boys game will have Latta meeting Pauls Valley at 6:15 p.m.

Consolation games will begin at noon on Friday, with semifinal games beginning at 5 p.m.

The Plainview Indians and Lady Indians will also be in action today in Little Axe at the 23rd annual Bobby Hicks Invitational tournament.

Plainview’s Lady Indians will meet Seeworth Academy at 1 p.m. today in their opening game, with the winner meeting either Wewoka or Little Axe Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.

Other teams in the girls field include Luther, Harding Fine Arts Academy, Crooked Oak and Noble.

Meanwhile, the Indians will face the host Little Axe in their opening contest at 2:30 p.m., with the winner meeting either Wewoka or Harding Fine Arts Academy in the semifinals at 5:30 p.m.

The Springer Cardinals and Lady Cardinals will also be in tournament action today at the Wapanucka Invitational tournament.

Both Springer teams will face off with Wapanucka in the opening round, with the Lady Cardinals playing at 6 p.m. followed by the boys at 7:20 p.m.

A victory for the Cardinals would see them play at 4:40 p.m. Friday against either Moyers or Calvin.

The Lady Cardinals would face either Varnum or Caney in the semifinals Friday at 3:20 p.m. should they win.
