1 The Dallas Black Dance Theatre is celebrating their 40th year at 7 p.m. Friday at the Goddard Center.
The organization remains committed to creating and producing contemporary modern dance at its highest level of artistic excellence through performances and educational programs that bridge cultures and reach diverse communities. DBDT: Encore! features eight artists of rising excellence from across the nation that support DBDT’s growing local and regional educational outreach. In addition to an evening performance, the ensemble will provide a workshop and daytime performance for schools. The Goddard Center hostess committee will have a reception after the performance.

2 The Winter Slide NRHA Show begins Tuesday at The Hardy Murphy Coliseum featuring ancillary classes, the Axtell Derby and AQHA Ranch Riding classes. The event runs through Sunday.

3 Anime City will host a Playstation 4, Dragonball Fighter Z tournament at 6 p.m. Saturday. The entry fee is $5 each. Prizes are TBA. Be sure to come out and join in the fun. Dragon Ball Z is a “button mashing” fighting game done in the highly stylized fashion of the popular anime series that shares the name.

4 Friends of the Johnston County Library will host a free viewing of the James Dean classic Rebel Without a Cause at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Indie Cinema in Tishomingo. Rebel Without a Cause is a 1955 American drama film about emotionally confused suburban, middle-class teenagers. Filmed in the recently introduced CinemaScope format and directed by Nicholas Ray, it offered both social commentary and an alternative to previous films depicting delinquents in urban slum environments.

5 The Davis Public Library  will host a crafting class at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Bring your own 18x18 pillow or buy one for $3! The library will provide the paint, stencils, and other decorations. Call (580) 369-2468 to sign up or for questions.
