Larry Dale Baker, age 67, passed away on Feb. 13, 2018, in Ardmore, Okla. Private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation services are under the direction of Griffin ~ Hillcrest Crematory in Ardmore.
Larry was born on Aug. 26, 1950, to Harry Dale Baker and Vera Lucille (Hood) Baker, in Cushing, Okla. The family moved to Oklahoma City until he was 12, when the family moved to Ardmore. He attended and graduated from Ardmore High School with the class of 1968. He attended Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts in Chickasha, Okla., where he was a member of Phi Gamma Lambda Fraternity. Larry graduated from college within three years with a Bachelor’s of Science degree. He married Patricia June Morrell on Feb. 25, 1972, in Ardmore, Okla. He took a position with Ken Milburn Ford as an accountant and later, he and Patti opened Champion Gas Station and another one on P Street in Ardmore. The couple closed them when Larry took the position with Ken Milburn as a landman. In 1981, he was in an auto accident that forced him into retirement. He loved to collect coins and play pool.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dianna Kay Brown; one daughter, Kendra Dawn January; and sister-in-law, Gayle Baker.
Larry is survived by his son, Thomas Dale Baker, of Ardmore; grandson, Kade N. January, of Port Lavaca, Texas; granddaughter, Paisley Dawn Baker, of Greenwich, Ind.; sister, Brenda Trammel, of Ardmore; brother, Ronnie Baker, of Lone Grove; and two nephews, Stephen Trammel, of Ardmore and Jason Baker, of Lone Grove.
