The Fox Lady Foxes did just that on Thursday afternoon, as they staved off a challenge from Grandfield to advance 38-35 at Temple High School in the first round of the Regional Consolation bracket.

Fox is scheduled to be back in action today at 1:30 p.m. against either Mill Creek or Wapanucka in the consolation semifinals. 

Grandfield held the early advantage at the end of the first quarter 8-5, before the Lady Foxes came back to lead at the half thanks to a 10-6 second quarter.

However, as the third quarter began the Lady Bearcats outscored Fox 12-11 to leave it even at 26-26 going into the fourth quarter.

But in the last frame of the contest, Fox showed it had more than 

enough left in the tank.

The Lady Foxes outscored Grandfield 12-9 in the fourth quarter to improve to 17-5 overall.

Jada Newhouse led the Lady Foxes with 14 points followed by Bree Phelps with nine points.

Maci Rodriguez added six points, with Avery Hoggard scoring four points.

 

Sasakwa 83
Springer 46

After earning their way into the Regional semifinals of the winners bracket, the Springer Lady Cardinals got a rude welcome Thursday night at Tupelo.

No. 4 Sasakwa proved to be too much for the Lady Cardinals, as they were sent into the consolation bracket of Area IV with a crushing defeat.

Springer will be back in action this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. against Paden in the regional consolation semifinals.

The first quarter was a nightmare start for the Lady Cardinals, as they were down 34-11 going into the second.

Despite holding Sasakwa to 16 points before halftime, the Lady Cardinals were down 50-25 going into the break.

Sasakwa sealed the game with a 33-21 run over the third and fourth quarters combined to improve to 21-3 overall while Springer fell to 16-9. 

Jazmyn Powell had 11 points to lead Springer, while Madison Mapp scored 10 points. 

Alle Schmidt and Kamryn Sampson both added nine points apiece. 

 

Ringling 41
Ryan 36 

The Ringling Lady Blue Devils fought off a spirited Ryan Cowgirls squad to advance in the regional consolation bracket with a five point victory on Thursday at Central High School in Marlow. 

The victory moved the Lady Blue Devils to 11-8 on the season.

Ryan took the lead 10-3 after the first quarter, before the Cowgirls led 18-9 going into the halftime break.

However, the Lady Blue Devils went on a 16-7 third quarter run to get back in the contest and tie the game at 25-25.

Ringling finished off the game with a 16-11 fourth quarter run.

Presley Reid and Kelsea Thompson both scored 10 points in the game to lead Ringling.

Kassidy Perkins added eight points.

Ringling will be back in action this evening at 6:30 p.m. in the regional consolation semifinals against Union City at Union City High School.
