Reports of juveniles planning to or actually taking weapons to school have risen over the past several days.
Earlier this morning, a Sulphur-area resident reported such suspicions about a young man there.
“We located the young man before he made it to school,” said Sulphur Police Chief David Shores. “He did not have a weapon on him at the time."
The weapon in question turned out to be a BB gun and had not been taken to school. An area resident stated Sulphur Schools were on lockdown early in the day. Shores confirmed the juvenile and his parents were at the station around 10:15 a.m. today.
