Services for John L. Gandy, 70, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with the Rev. Manuel Barrios officiating. Burial will follow at Provence Cemetery.
The son of the late George Wesley and Faye Mozelle Worley Gandy, John was born Feb. 1, 1948, in Ardmore and passed away following his two-year battle with cancer in Ft. Worth, Texas, surrounded by his family.
John graduated from Ardmore High School, class of 1967, and began working as an electrician in Texas. He worked for many years with the Siemens Company. John married the love of his life in 1997, Maria E. Barrios, in Ft. Worth, Texas, and they shared over 20 years together.
He enjoyed collecting World War II memorabilia and participating in reenactments. To all that knew him, his idealism, conviction to his moral values, authenticity and loyalty stood out. He loved people unconditionally, and was always able to surprise his family and friends with his spontaneity.
John is survived by his loving wife, Maria; daughter, Eva Barrios; and his brother, Daniel Gandy. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel R. Gandy.
