A local family found themselves awakened in the early morning hours Monday to find a man allegedly “peeping” on their teenage daughter.
Ardmore Police Capt. Keith Ingle said, “The juvenile woke up at 5 a.m. and thought she heard a voice in the hallway.” Ingle said the victim heard the voice again at her window a short time later and alerted her father. The victim alleged the man made lewd proposals.
The alleged perpetrator ran when the father went outside with a flashlight. Ingle said the victim’s father was able to describe the man to police, who later apprehended Shane Allen Hawley still wearing the same clothing described by the father of the victim.
Hawley was transported to Carter County Detention Center and booked in just after 7 a.m. Assistant District Attorney Ryan Hunnicutt filed two charges: one felony count of lewd or indecent proposal to a child under 16 and one
misdemeanor count of peeping Tom.
Hawley’s bond was set at $25,000 at the initial conference. A preliminary conference was scheduled for April 5.
Hawley bonded out and was
released Monday. Judge Carson Brooks ordered no contact with the victim and her parents and ordered Hawley not to be within 1,000 feet of the victim’s residence.
