OVERBROOK — Funeral services for Sharon Lynn Butler, 71, of Overbrook, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018, at the Marsden Baptist Church in Overbrook with Claude Williams officiating.
Sharon was born Nov. 11, 1946, in Comanche, Okla., to H. L. (Tex) and Nadine Owens. She passed away at home on Thursday, March 1, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sharon was preceeded in death by her parents, Tex and Nadine Owens, of Healdton; brother, Rick Owens; and her beloved husband of 42 years, Walter Butler. She and Walter were married Aug. 15, 1973, and made their home in the Criner Hills area. Sharon grew up in the Healdton/Fox area and attended school at Fox.
Sharon made a lot of friends in her working years at Kmart and Hobby Lobby. She was store manager at Family Dollar for many years before her retirement.
She also served on the board for the Criner Hills Volunteer Fire Department as secretary/treasurer for many years until her retirement in December 2017.
She enjoyed playing bingo, working puzzles, reading and being with her beloved cat, Baby.
She is survived by daughter, Lisa Bandy and husband, Sam McCleskey and son, Tim Bandy, all of Ardmore; four grandsons, Ryan, Christian, Tyler and Ethan Bandy of Marlow; four sisters, Sandra Thompson, Ada and Ann Hull, Vickie Lander and Shauna Owens of Ardmore; sister-in-law, Yvonne Price, of Overbrook; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to the Charles Campbell family for treating Sharon as a member of their own family and to Criner Hills Fire Department and to Cross Timbers Hospice for the compassionate care during Sharon’s last few weeks.
