BURNEYVILLE — Services celebrating the life of Connie “Abada” Hartman, 68, of Burneyville, Okla., are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2018, in Freeman Auditorium of Turner School, Burneyville, with Lawrence Anderson officiating, assisted by Burl Solie. Interment in Burneyville Cemetery will be under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta.
The daughter of Joe and Lucille Reed George, Connie was born June 3, 1949, in Duncan, and went to her heavenly home on Friday, March 23, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta.
Connie attended school at Plainview and then was a student at Marietta High School her senior year. On Sept. 15, 1972, she and Johnny Hartman were married in Gainesville, Texas. Connie retired from the tire splicing department of Uniroyal. Always involved in community affairs, she was a member of the Burneyville Baptist Church, the Jimtown Volunteer Fire Department, took care of the Burneyville Cemetery, volunteered at Lake Country Nursing Center, as well as with Sara’s Project, and was very active in the Turner Booster Club in the 1980s. Connie was a caregiver of many, whether they were family, friends or just people in the community in need. One of her greatest joys was cooking for everyone. She was an animal lover who also enjoyed working in her yard and flower gardens and watching hummingbirds. However, her greatest love was her family. Connie was always in attendance at her children and grandchildren’s school activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Ashley Ann Hartman; and her four-legged friend, her dog, Arlis.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny, of the home; son, Bill Hartman and wife Shannon, of Ardmore; three daughters, Sissy Burge and husband Billy, of Marietta, Johnetta Hartman and Mark Sullivan, and Teresia Benefield of Kilgore, Texas; brother, Bill George and wife Beth, of Lone Grove; sister, Donna Gothard, also of Lone Grove; and four-legged friend, Bubba. Connie was Abada to eight grandchildren, Trevor Burge, Trenton Burge, Robert Sullivan, Heloisa Rodrigues, Christopher Jordan, Victoria Hartman, William Hartman and Elizabeth Hartman; a great-grandson, Enzo Rodrigues; and many others.
Serving as casket bearers will be Bill Hartman, Billy Burge, Mark Sullivan, Robert Sullivan, Trevor Burge, Trenton Burge and Wesley Lee. Honorary bearers are Queta Renick, Janet Sparks, Jo Coyle, Toni Peery, Brenda Campbell, Donna Sue Rychlik, Joyce Hallum, Kathy Powell, Dr. John Randolph and Bryr Acox.
Time of visitation for family and friends will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
Because Connie’s main goal in life was helping others, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Burneyville Cemetery Fund at BancFirst in Marietta or the Danial Heiderich Memorial Scholarship Fund at Turner School, P.O. Box 159; Burneyville, OK 73430.
