Nan Ellen Gentry Coulter Jones King passed peacefully on March 23, 2018. She was born on April 12, 1918, to Eddie Ray Gentry and Nora Catherine Powell on a sharecroppers farm near Atoka. She was the fifth of 11 children. She had five brothers and five sisters. All preceded her in death.

She left home at 15 to marry Troy Mac (Red) Coulter of Overbrook, Okla. Her only child, Joe E Coulter, was born in 1936. She left Overbrook around 1939, moving to Ardmore, where she worked at many restaurants. In 1943, she married CW (Bill) Jones and moved to Fort Worth, Texas. Bill was drafted, so she returned to Ardmore and worked for the Ritz Cleaners, driving their pickup/delivery truck. She moved back to Fort Worth in 1944, and worked at Convair/General Dynamics, retiring in 1973. She married Hershel A. King in 1970, and they continued to live in Fort Worth until they moved back to Ardmore in 2006. She remained there until her son moved her to California in 2015.

Nan has always been highly regarded. She was an independent lady who lived life on her own terms.

She is survived by her son, Joe E Coulter and his wife JoAnne; three grandchildren, Rena L Svetic, Joe L Coulter and Ronna E Vladic; and five great-grandchildren, Ryan Svetic, Matt Svetic, Stevie Vladic, Vinnie Vladic and Jay Cee Vladic.

Services will be held at McAlister Cemetery in late spring or early summer.
