A water related incident claimed the life of a 72 year old Coleman woman Tuesday.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Sandy Creek Road southwest of Coleman, Lutreca V. Bates, was swept downstream after attempting to retrieve her vehicle from the water.
Earlier in the day, Bates’ car stalled and she was able to get out safely on her own. Several hours later, Bates returned with a family member and a tractor.
The victim was recovered at about 1 p.m. by Milburn Volunteer Fire Department about 150 yards downstream where her vehicle lodged in some brush.
The OHP Trooper assigned to the case was Kevin King of the Marine Enforcement Division.
