Easter egg hunts and birthday Easter egg hunts and birthday parties are fun, and one lucky pup got both Thursday during the Ardmore Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Dog Easter Egg Hunt at Ardmore Regional Park Dog Park.
Murphy, a four-year-old border terrier, celebrated his birthday at the event by getting his picture taken with the Easter bunny, meeting lots of new friends and eating lots of treats. Murphy’s family, Matt and Julie Lollman and their sons Ethan and Samuel, fell in love with him through pictures. Then when the person who had the puppy sent the address, he was all the way in Austin. They made the drive anyway, and four years later Murphy is part of the family. The breed is usually a show dog, but Murphy is just a beloved family pet.
“He gets a lot of treats,” Ethan said.
Julie said they originally chose the breed because they’re known not to shed, which was important due to health issues. Despite the mud, or perhaps because of it, Murphy had a great time finding treats and running around the park with the other dogs.
Also in attendance were Nixon Schwartz, an impeccably dressed French; the famous “Pugs Bunny” aka Duke, Armani (and his mom Angelica Ramirez), Gracie, with her adorable tutu (and her stroller) and Sinch, who stole the show in his bunny suit. Prizes were awarded to the best dressed, and everyone took home frisbees and treats.
