Randy Michael Cumbie, 61 of Mannsville, Okla., went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 1, 2018 in Durant, Okla. He was born on April 29, 1956, in Sidney, NE to Jack Edwin and Mona Jo (Brown) Cumbie.
Randy graduated from Ardmore High School. He was part of the 1972 State Championship Ardmore Tigers Baseball team. Randy was also named to the 1974 All State Baseball team and awarded the Jim Thorpe Player of the Year in Baseball for the State of Oklahoma. After high school, he earned a baseball scholarship to SEOSU in Durant. From there he went on to work for Michelin North American as a Shipping Foreman for 30 years before retiring. He also worked later as a Safety Officer at Valero. Randy would volunteer his time to youth baseball holding several seminars while mentoring dozens of other boy’s one on one. He married Rhonda Colclasure in Gainesville, Texas, on Dec. 31, 1990. Randy’s hobbies include baseball especially Ardmore Tigers, golfing, hunting, fishing and being involved with his grandkids. He was also a member of Mannsville Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by son Jeremy Cumbie, father Jack Cumbie and grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Cumbie of Norman, Okla., mother Mona Jo Cumbie of Mannsville, Okla., daughters; Alyssa Cumbie- Higby of Norman, Okla., Jessica Dunn and husband Josh of Savannah, Texas, Kristen Vodak of Seattle, Wash., and Heather McBride of Norman, Okla., grandsons; Aiden Higby, Jackson Dunn, Cooper Dunn, George Partin-McBride and Arthur Partin-McBride, brothers; Dennis Cumbie and wife Tracy of Ardmore, Okla. and Jackie Don Cumbie and wife Cindy of McAlester, Okla. He also has numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins and many dear friends that will miss him.
The family also wishes to publicly acknowledge and thank Barry Bowker, Jaynie Gores and his Uncle Jackie Pilgrim for being there for Randy at the end.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Madill Church of Christ. Pastor Matt Benedick will conduct the service with Barry Bowker, Mike Tipps, and Ronnie Tipps as Speakers. Interment will follow at Russett Cemetery. Family Hour will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Madill, Okla. Pallbearers will be Rick Orr, Barry Bowker, Ron Downing, Chad Jordan, Mike Tipps, and Roger Byrd. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chan “ChaCha” Brewster, Randy Taylor, Butch Knight, Tom Reed, Randy McAdoo, Mike Word, Glen Wendt, Wayne Hill, Coach Ronnie Tipps, Les Mathes and the entire 1972 Ardmore Tigers State Championship Baseball Team.
