James Christopher “Chris” Cooper, 54, of Marietta, Okla., passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta. Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018, in Marietta’s First Baptist Church with Pastor Shane Norton officiating.
Born at Falfurrias, Texas, on Oct. 18, 1963, Chris was the son of John Cooper and Judy Taylor Cooper.
A graduate of Marietta High School, Chris was a lifelong resident of Marietta. He worked for the Ardmore Police Department for 13 years and also as a machinist for 3M Imtech. A member of the National Rifle Association, he enjoyed collecting and shooting guns. In addition, he was a NASCAR fan. Chris loved his hobbies and enjoyed sharing them with his sons as well as teaching them other new things. A Christian, he accepted Christ in 2001 in Landmark Baptist Church, Ardmore. Chris and Roselma Thomson had been together since June 22, 2007, and were married in Gainesville, Texas, on June 22, 2016.
Chris was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Roselma, of the home; mother, Judy Cooper of Marietta; three sons, Johnathon Cooper of Ardmore, Okla., Jameson Cooper and wife Ashton of Lone Grove, Okla., and Jackson Cooper of Springer, Okla.; a brother, Jeff Cooper of Marietta; and special niece, Samantha Cooper, also of Marietta.
Cremation under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta.
