Funeral service for Betty JoAnne Pepin Watkins, 83, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2018, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Chaplain Matt Benedick officiating. Burial will be Thursday afternoon at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater.

A time of support and visitation for family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.

The daughter of the late Frank Walker Pepin and Hryal Ruthilla (Hamblin) Pepin, JoAnne was born on Feb. 23, 1935, in Lyford, Texas, and passed away on April 14, 2018 in a Marietta nursing facility.

A long time Ardmore resident, JoAnne moved from Lyford, Texas, to Oilton, Okla., in 1939, and attended school there until her junior year in high school.  JoAnne graduated from C.E. Donart High School in Stillwater, class of 1953. 

She and James Earnest “Bud” Watkins were married on Aug. 15, 1953, in Stillwater. She was a Charter 1785 Senior regent Women of the Moose 82-83. JoAnne enjoyed embroidery, cross stitch, quilting, baking, puzzles, the color purple and most of all entertaining her family and friends. She retired in 1995, from the Ardmore Village where she was  a secretary.

Survivors include: her loving husband James “Bud” Watkins; daughters, Jana Sue Cezeaux and husband Rod, of San Antonio, Texas, and Kimberly Anne Rieck and husband Bryan, of Ardmore; son, Steven Frank Watkins and wife Marie, of Ardmore; grandchildren, Jason Cezeaux, Jamey Baker, Benjamin Rieck and Miranda Guzman; great-grandchildren, Claire, Madeleine and James Cezeaux, and Sebastian and Cristian Guzman; nieces; nephews; and a large extended family that included her baby dog Tia. 

Preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lucille Etter and Frances Ramsey; brothers, BR “Jack” Pepin and Utah Pepin.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Jason Cezeaux, Benjamin Rieck, Jefferson Baker, Ed Engel, Gary Watkins and Jim Watkins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice of Ardmore and/or Alzheimer’s Association.
