WILSON — Services for Mariquinn Cole, 91, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday morning at the River of Life Pentecostal Church in Wilson with Reverend Jim Duck officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery with the assistance of her nephews serving as pallbearers.
The daughter of the late Russell Albert and Gladys Aribell (Gardner) Lindsey Sr., Mariquinn was born May 30, 1926, in Wilson, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 25, 2018, in a local Ardmore nursing facility.
A graduate of Wilson High School, Mariquinn began her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone as an operator in 1953, working in Ft. Worth, Texas. She retired after 30 years of service with AT&T, while living in Lafayette, La.
She was proud of her native Choctaw heritage and was able to trace her lineage to two former chiefs of the Choctaw Nation.
She is survived by her brothers, Dwain Lindsey and wife, Sheila, of Kingston; and Deryal Lindsey and wife, Wanda, of Hurst, Texas; sister, Joyce Cooper and sister-in-law, Elaine Lindsey, both of Ft. Worth, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Brady, Bill and R.A. Lindsey, Jr.
