Anyone who’s ever wanted to camp out in Regional Park is in luck.
Ardmore Parks and Recreation Department is holding a S’mores and Snores campout starting at 6 p.m. on May 19 at the playground pavilion in Regional Park. Families can bring tents to the park, set up camp, play games, watch a movie and stay the night.
Parks and Recreation Director Teresa Ervin said this is the first time the department has held something quite like this.
“We’ve never done anything like this at a park,” Ervin said. “We’ve done lock-ins at the community center, but that’s in a building. We’ve never done anything in the park overnight.”
Families will need to sign up in advance. Ervin said right now, she expects a healthy turnout.
“We’ve had some people sign up and we’ve had a lot of people looking at it on Facebook, so that’s always encouraging,” Ervin said.
The department will screen The Nut Job 2. The price of admission includes hot dogs, s’mores, games, popcorn and drinks. Breakfast will be available at 7 a.m.
Admission is $15 per tent. For more information, call (580) 223-4844. The department is also looking for volunteers to help run the event. The Facebook event can be found at https://bit.ly/2FHi3DV.
