Ardmore’s Downtown Marketplace Farmer’s Market opened last weekend with new additions. This week, the Ardmore Main Street Authority added one more new addition to the now annual market — an award winning Farm to Table Dinner event.
Last year’s event was among the first of its kind in the state, said Jeff DiMiceli, the general manager of the Ardmore Main Street Authority. The unique event earned the Authority the 2018 Best Creative Event Award from the Oklahoma Main Street Center. The award was presented last Tuesday at an awards banquet in Oklahoma City.
“These awards come through stiff competition,” DiMiceli said. There are about 25 active Main Streets statewide. Each submits their entries for each award, but this year Ardmore took this one. The Farm to Table Dinner showcases fresh local items in a dinner put together by Chef Colin Chapman.
While the dinner sets the stage for the year’s offerings from the Farmer’s Market downtown, it is also the sole fundraiser for the project. Last year’s event brought in around $5,000 in sponsorships and revenue.
This year’s event will feature a menu by Chapman, local items presented by those who bring them to the market, and the ambiance of The Stables at Washita Farms in Mannsville. “The goal is to bring healthy, safe food to our community members and their families,” DiMiceli said.
Tickets for the event, which includes local wines and craft beers and a four-course meal, are on sale now for $80. Seating is limited so those interested are encouraged to purchase their tickets as quickly as possible. Call Ardmore Main Street at (580) 226-6246 to reserve your seats.
