RINGLING — Graveside services with military honors for Cecil Edward Baucom are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery in Ringling, with Bro. Mike Williams officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling.
Cecil was born on July 20, 1937, to the late Omar Baucom and Nellie Mae Baucom. He departed this life on May 18, 2018, at his residence in Joshua, Texas.
Cecil grew up in the Ringling area and attended school there. After graduating he honorably served in the United States Navy.
Cecil married Mary Lou (Jones) Baucom on June 19, 1964, in Ada. She preceded him in death on Sept. 26, 2006.
Cecil worked in the oil industry as a driller for many years. He enjoyed riding his gold wing motorcycle, going to car shows and traveling to Las Vegas. Cecil loved to visit his daughter in Kermit, Texas, and especially enjoyed visiting with his son-in-law Clay, and his niece and nephew Liz and Leslie. He loved his family and always cherished his time with his nieces, nephews and grandchildren. When he wasn’t on the go and traveling he could be found watching old westerns and antique road show.
Cecil is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Lou Baucom; four sisters; and nine brothers.
Cecil is survived by his daughters, Nellie Jean Austin and husband Robert, of Joshua, Texas, Marle Reynolds and husband Clay, of Kermit, Texas; son, Timothy Baucom and wife Shelly, of Quitman, Texas; seven grandchildren, Zachary, B.J., Colby, Robert Jr., Hannah, Kaitlyn and Lance; sisters, Lois Gibson and husband Verdo, of Ringling, Cheryl Wilkes and husband Carlen, of Ardmore; brothers, Earl Baucom of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Charles Baucom of Grandbury, Texas; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A family visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling.
