Cross Timbers Hospice will host its 32nd annual Benefit Salad Luncheon at the Colvert Ministry Center at First United Methodist Church today from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Tickets are $7.00 and available for purchase in advance at Cross Timbers Hospice or at the door.

Don’t let the term “salad” concern you. There will be much more than iceberg lettuce on the menu. In addition to traditional salads, taco salad and pasta salads will be served. There will also be baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, and dessert options.

Besides being a great deal on lunch and a fund-raiser for a good cause, Brandi Townley, who works in quality assistance for Cross Timbers Hospice, points out that the event also serves as a community gathering for families whose loved ones have been helped by the organization.

“It’s always like a big family reunion,” Townley said. “All of the families like to see ‘their’ nurse.” She also said she was amazed by the amount of support local restaurants have given to the event.

“That’s the great thing about small town Oklahoma,” she said. “There have been about 30 different restaurants who have donated food.” For example, Chicken Express will be donating all of the cups, ice, and sweet and unsweet tea for the fund raiser.
