The Atoka County E911 service’s Facebook page reported that the Atoka County Courthouse initiated lockdown procedures just before 2 p.m. today.
Derek Mixon, the county's emergency manager, said there was a shooting at a convenience store near the courthouse. While the alleged suspect was being sought by local law enforcement, the county courthouse remained on lockdown.
The emergency protocols were lifted after the emergency team was notified the subject had been apprehended by the Atoka County Sheriff's Department. The alleged shooter's identity has not yet been released, however Mixon confirmed he was arrested and is currently incarcerated at the Atoka County detention facility.
The victim in the shooting, an employee at the convenience store, was life flighted to a Tulsa hospital, Mixon said.
The alleged shooter was detained a little more than an hour after the incident at the store.
Further information will be updated as it is released.
