Funeral services for Billy “Bill” Rowton will be at 10  a.m. Tuesday, July 31, at the First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. The family will have a visitation Monday evening from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Craddock Funeral Home.
Bill Lloyd Rowton was born on Oct. 23, 1936, to Samantha (Evans) and Loyd Lee Rowton in Soper. He passed from this life on July 26, 2018 at the age of 81.
Bill graduated high school from Clarksville, Texas, in the class of 1955. Upon graduation he attended a semester at the University of Houston on a football scholarship before decided to enlist in the United States Navy. On Nov. 24, 1962, Bill married the love of his life, Sally Lewis in Magazine, Ark. Together their raised two children, Lee and Tina. Bill was the first city manager of Choctaw, and the first circuit rider position in Oklahoma. He was an avid golfer who younger golfers avoided playing with in fear of losing to him. Bill was also a fan of college football and enjoyed watching OSU and Texas play. He loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Loyd and Samantha Rowton; sisters Thelma Maynard and Sharon Rowton; and brother Danny Rowton
He is survived by his wife Sally Rowton of the home; son Lee Rowton and his wife Kim; daughter Tina Pruitt and her husband Billy; brothers Doug “Buzz” Rowton and Darrel Rowton; sisters Diane Manowski; Dana Rowton, Pat Morgan, Jan Lawdermilk, and Lanell Richardson; grandchildren Jeffery Palmer, Tara Robbins, Kasey Barnett, Shaimon Bauzewski, Kennedy Bauzewski, Michael Rowton, Shawn Cavner, and Sara Cavner; and 14 great-grandchildren with 1 more on the way.
Michael Robbins, Shaimon Bauzewski, Jeffery Palmer, Michael Rowton, Josh Barnett and Sean Cavner will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
