Norris Donnell Washington was born June 13, 1957, in Grenada, Miss., to Beulah Odessa Washington Kinney. Norris was called home July 12, 2018, after a long struggle with cancer. He was educated in the Grenada Public School System in Grenada, Miss. He was a talented athlete playing football until he graduated in 1976. On Aug. 6, 1976, Norris married his high school sweetheart Veronica Ann Amos. From this union one child was born, Rodrick L. Washington. Norris worked as a butcher at Shaw Meat Co. for 15 years. Norris lost his beloved wife in 1998. In 2005 he moved to Ardmore, to be closer to his two sisters and brother in laws. He was employed with Dollar General for the next 5 years. Norris loved fishing and the outdoors. He also loved spending time with family and friends. He was extremely happy to be able to travel back home to Mississippi this past June for one last visit.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Veronica in 1998, a brother in 1980, and his mother in 2004. Norris leaves to cherish his memories; son, Roderick Washington (Brandy), grandsons; Trey and Khameron, granddaughters; Madisyn and Tiakka of Grenada. Four sisters; Cassandra Washington (Billy) Nash of Grenada, Georgia (Russell) Clark, Rosie (James) Knight of Ardmore, Emma (Michael) Jackson of Clearwater, Fla. Three brothers; Oliver Wright, Grenada, James Kinney, Florida and Kenyatta Kinney, Grenada. His beloved mother and father-in-law; Dorothy (Joe) Amos. Brother and sisters-in-law; Shaunda (Eddie) Weathers and April (Bernard) Jones. Along with a host of aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The Washington/Kinney family would like to thank each and every one that toughed the life of Norris. We will forever be grateful. His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 11, 2018 at St. James Christ Ministry Church, 150 Harvey Street, Grenada, Mississippi, 38901.
