Ardmore police arrested a local man on a felony charge of second degree auto burglary early Wednesday morning.
APD officer Kevin Kropp was dispatched to the 900 block of NW Burch Street regarding a possible automobile burglary. According to Kropp’s report, two suspects were located and interviewed. Jerry Scott Sanderson, 32, was arrested and booked into the Carter County Detention Center.
APD Sgt. Brice Woolly said the initial investigation revealed Sanderson had allegedly entered a vehicle, which initiated the burglary charge against him. Woolly said Sanderson and another man were stopped riding bicycles away from the area. The investigation into other similar instances in the area and the other man’s possible connection to the scene is ongoing with APD.
Formal charges were sent to the Carter County District Court via the District Attorney’s office Wednesday afternoon. The initial appearance was heard before Carter County District Judge Dennis Morris. Morris issued a $750 cash bond in lieu of bail as well as a no contact order.
The preliminary conference in the matter has been set before Carter County Special District Judge Carson Brooks on September 27.
