DICKSON — While it might be early in the season, district play waits for no teams to find a stride.

The Dickson Lady Comets took this message to heart on Thursday as they played host to the Marietta Lady Indians, with both teams sitting at 0-2 in district 3A-2.

Three was the magic number for the Lady Comets as they used a pair of three-run innings to eventually claim a 6-0 victory, putting them at 2-2 on the season, and more importantly at 1-2 in district 3A-2.

Marietta meanwhile fell to 0-3 on the season and 0-2 in district 3A-2.

Lacie Winchester broke a 0-0 deadlock in the bottom of the fifth inning when she got Dickson on the board with an RBI double to left field which scored Kayden Barton.

Alyssa Warren then made it 2-0 for the Lady Comets with a sacrifice fly RBI which scored Winchester.

Came McGahey finished off the inning for Dickson with an RBI single to left-center field which scored Shanna McKown.

The Lady Comets got a little bit of luck in the bottom of the sixth when Jadyn McKenzie and Barton both scored on the same passed ball to make it 5-0 for the Lady Comets.

McKown then helped herself with an RBI single up the middle which scored Winchester to give Dickson what amounted to be an untouchable 6-0 lead.

On the mound, McKown did the rest for the Lady Comets as she finished off a complete game effort of seven innings pitched with zero walks allowed with six hits and one strikeout.

Carslee Minyard took the loss in the circle for the Lady Indians, throwing six innings of work. She allowed eight hits with six walks and one strikeout.

Both Dickson and Marietta were scheduled to play Comanche in the nightcap of a triangular at the Dickson softball complex on Thursday. Scores and stats from those games were not available as of press time.
