Despite seeing their winning start to the season halted on Thursday, the Plainview Lady Indians had the perfect way to end the opening day of the Chisholm Trail Classic, with a victory.

Despite seeing their winning start to the season halted on Thursday, the Plainview Lady Indians had the perfect way to end the opening day of the Chisholm Trail Classic, with a victory.

Plainview bounced back from a close loss against Lincoln Christian to take down the Cache Lady Bulldogs in their second game Thursday night at Firelake Casino in Shawnee.

The Lady Indians (2-1) will take on defending Class 4A state champion Tuttle today at 2:30 p.m. before facing off with Heritage Hall at 5:30 p.m.

In what was a closely contested game early on, the Lady Indians found the going tough late against Lincoln Christian in their opening contest.

Brooklyn Storts put Plainview ahead in the top of the first with a two-RBI single to center.

Lincoln Christian would tie the game in the bottom half of the inning however.

But, Plainview was back in front moments later as Tatum Brewster scored on an error, before Lexi Hackney hit an RBI single to right field, scoring Jenna Jennings to make it 4-2.

The back and forth nature of the game continued though as Lincoln Christian scored three runs of its own to reclaim the lead in the bottom of the second.

One more run in the third increased the deficit to 6-4.

Riley Grant took the loss on the mound for the Lady Indians, throwing four innings of work. She allowed four earned runs on seven hits with six walks and two strikeouts.

A bold statement was made by the Lady Indians in their last game of the day, as they took down the Cache Lady Bulldogs.

Storts once again provided the first run of the game for Plainview as she slapped an RBI single to left field in the bottom of the first inning to make it 1-0.

Brooke Castillo doubled the lead with a fielders choice RBI in the second, before later scoring when Hackney drew a bases loaded walk.

Storts struck again later in the inning with the bases loaded as she brought home three runs with a double to right field to make it a 6-0 Lady Indians lead. 

Cache managed to get on the board in the top of the third inning.

Jennings gave the Lady Indians an insurance run in the bottom half of the third when she sent an RBI single off a line drive to center field. 

The Lady Bulldogs got two more runs in the top of the fourth, but their rally was stopped short. 

Grant got the win in the circle for the Lady Indians, throwing two innings of work. She didn’t allow any hits while walking just one batter and striking out one batter.

Taryn Martin picked up the save, throwing two innings. She allowed three earned runs on four hits with three walks.
