Services for Goldie Mae Estep of Rowlett, Texas, are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, in the First Christian Church of Marietta. Officiating will be Jonathan Odom. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, will follow under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta.
Mrs. Estep was born July 14, 1929, in Fraziers Bottom, WV, the daughter of Everett and Beulah Long Doss. She passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, at her residence at the age of 89.
Goldie had been a resident of Rowlett since 1963. She and Carl J. Estep were married October 7, 1949, in Cabell County, WV, and he preceded her in death on April 15, 1992. Goldie had been employed as an office manager/clerk for a life insurance company for more than 30 years. Her hobbies included gardening, going out to eat with friends, painting oil portraits, and traveling. She also enjoyed sewing her own clothes. Goldie was a member of the Journey Community Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Doss; sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Coy Foster; and nephew, Bryan Drennan.
She is survived by her sister, Anne Drennan and husband Jack of Marietta; sister-in-law, Sue Doss of Chandler, Ariz.; niece, Pam Nelson and husband Greg of Phoenix, Ariz.; and nephew, Jeffrey Foster, of Milton, WV.
Casket bearers will be Vernon Wallace, Blake Michael, Dusty Michael, and Jack Drennan. Honorary bearers will be members of the Journey Community Church of the Nazarene, and special neighbors Darryl and Tonya Torske and Melba.
