A Gathering of Remembrance for Dorothy Jean Smith will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018, in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home. Cremation-With-Care will follow at Harvey-Douglas Crematory.
Daughter of the late Carl Frank Wolfe and Geraldine Lynetta (Clark) Wolfe, Dorothy Jean was born May 15, 1924, at Bartlesville, Okla. As a child, her father worked in the oil fields of many communities and the family moved often. The family eventually settled in Wilson, where she graduated from high school, the class of 1942.
She and Aubrey C. Smith were married June 9, 1942, at Houston, Texas, and made their home in Ardmore. They were the parents of four children, Steve, Randy, Nicholas and Bunnye. The couple had celebrated sixty-years of marriage when Aubrey passed away, June 17, 2003.
A member of the First Christian Church, Dorothy Jean enjoyed shopping and loved her many faithful canine companions.
Dorothy Jean passed from this life to life everlasting, Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, in an Oklahoma City hospital, at the age of 94 years, 2 months and 27 days.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy Jean was preceded in death by a son, Nicholas Dean Smith; sisters, Marolyn Cleek and Carolyn Garrett.
She is survived by two sons, Steve Smith and wife Evelyn, of Fort Worth, Texas, Randy Smith, Norman; daughter, Bunnye Jack, Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Shaun Colbert, Paul Smith, Anna Spinks, Jennifer Colbert, Valerie Smith, Stephanie Cruson, Margaret Lang Smith, Angie Moore, Katy Gray, Lauren Smith and Nicole Smith; her 16 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and daughters-in-law, Judy Smith and Jenny Lang Smith.
