Sometimes, there really is no place like home.

Earlier this month, the Ringling Lady Blue Devils varsity cheer team took part in their annual UCA camp.

Only this time, the Lady Blue Devils didn’t have to travel very far to showcase their talents, as they attended the camp at the Ringling Multipurpose Building.

During the duration of the three-day camp, the Ringling cheer squad managed to win Gold Superior Ribbons for their sidelines, as well as extreme routine and cheer. They also received a spirit stick all three days of the camp, as well as a Superior Trophy for their overall team performance during the week.

On the last day of the festivities, members of the team were evaluated on their extreme dance routine and game day competition routine. Later the same day, every member of the varsity squad was given the chance to try out to earn All-American status.

Senior captain London Lewis, as well as Steelie Price, Kelsea Thompson, Reagan Klutts, Kelsi Lester, and Sydney Southward all earned All-American status.

Every member who earned the award was given a medal and is eligible to perform in the London New Year’s Day Parade.

However, things got even more special for the captain of the squad, as Lewis was recognized for her leadership and dedication during the week. She is eligible to perform at the Varsity Spirit Spectacular which will be held at Walt Disney World in December.

Fans will have their first chance to see the Lady Blue Devils cheer on Friday night when the Ringling football team hosts Kingston at 6 p.m. in a scrimmage at Rick Gandy Field inside Blue Devil Stadium.

The head cheer sponsor for Ringling is Aaron Blackwell.
