Services for Vance Lamar Dokes will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Ardmore. Interment will be at Clearview Cemetery.
Life journey begins on Mar. 3, 1968, in Los Angeles, a precious baby boy entered into this world. His name given was Vance Lamar Dokes. He was raised with two brothers Craig and Victor Dokes. Vance attended Los Angeles Public Schools and accepted Christ at an early age. Vance had a love for basketball, Kung Fu movies, and traveling, so he became a truck driver so he could travel. He loved his family and loved spending time with his cousins. Vance will be truly missed by his family and those he met during his travels.
Vance Lamar is preceded in death by his father, Ozzie Dokes, his maternal “grandmother,” Lizzie Fuller, and his maternal “grandfather,” Roscoe Fuller and both grandparents on his fathers side, and his brother, Victor Dokes.
Vance Lamar leaves to cherish his memories; his mother, Cora Dokes Fuller, Los Angeles; a brother, Craig Dokes of California. Six children; Kevin Mosely, Tyler Dokes, Ari Briggs Dokes, all of Los Angeles. Vance Dokes of San Diego, Knowledge Dokes and Lyric of Oklahoma City. A cherished companion, Keshia Davis of Oklahoma City. Four nieces, four nephews, aunties, uncles, host of cousins and friends. A special cousin, Cordell Hornbeke.
Visitation will be 12 p.m.-6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17 at Grant & Owens Mortuary.
