It’s been a crazy week for the Ardmore Lady Tigers.

It’s been a crazy week for the Ardmore Lady Tigers.

Last week they were scheduled to begin district play against Santa Fe South, but their doubleheader was rained out, along with what was supposed to be their home opener against Duncan.

But Ardmore more than made up for lost time Monday afternoon as the Lady Tigers won their first district game of the season by a 7-4 score against Lawton MacArthur, which was also their first home game of the year.

Ardmore (4-4, 1-0) will be on the road today for a district doubleheader against Lawton Ike, which is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. with the second game to follow at 6:30 p.m.

While the victory was sweet for the Lady Tigers and their fans, it didn’t come easy.

Lawton MacArthur took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Kaegan Christian got an RBI single to left field.

However, the Lady Tigers had an immediate response, thanks to Makila Case.

Case stepped up to the plate with two outs in the bottom of the first, and connected on a three-RBI triple to right field, putting Ardmore ahead 3-1.

The Lady Tigers increased their lead in the bottom of the second when Reagan Lewis sent an RBI double to center field which scored Emma Nightengale to make it 4-1.

Natalie Smith got a run back for the Lady Highlanders in the fourth with an RBI triple to right.

Lewis would score on an error in the bottom half of the fourth as Shakira Smith registered an RBI groundout, helping increase the Ardmore lead to 6-2.

Later in the same inning, Lauren Blankenship sent a fly ball to center field and raced out a triple, which allowed her to score when Avery Lowe sent an RBI single to left field, making it 7-2.

MacArthur got two more runs in the top of the fifth, but there was no rally to come as Ardmore claimed the district victory.

Savannah Marris got the win in the circle for Ardmore, throwing a complete game effort. She allowed two earned runs on eight hits with seven walks and four strikeouts.

Logan Smith took the loss for MacArthur, throwing six innings. She allowed four earned runs on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
