A Celebration of Life for Sarah Oletha Berryman-Williamson, 87, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Reverend Kirk Rushing conducting the Eulogy. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
Sarah Oletha Berryman-Williamson was born July 28, 1931, in Berwyn, to Reed Berryman and Bama Antwine-Berryman. She was one of nine children. She attended school in Blackjack, and Lincoln School in Gene Autry.
She attended Macedonia Baptist Church of Ardmore and was a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Gene Autry, where she was very active in various auxiliaries. She was a much-loved mother at Mt. Pleasant.
She met and married George E. Williamson in 1947. To this union eight children were born, four children preceded Sarah in death. Sarah was a woman of strong faith and abounding strength and worked diligently to keep her family united in Christ.
Upon moving to Ardmore, Sarah worked at Seventh Day Adventist Hospital, The Ardmore Veterans Center and various health care services while simultaneously raising her family.
Sarah later became very active with several senior and retired volunteer programs of Carter, Johnston and Murray counties. She was active with the HFV Wilson Senior Citizens Group where she especially enjoyed the exercise class.
Sarah’s earthly life journey ended on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018. She leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Evelyn Roberts; three daughters, Georgia Mae Maytubby, LeeAnn Pirtle and husband Quince, Dawn Marie Stubblefield and husband Kelly; one son, Ray Williamson and wife Cynthia; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends.
