After enduring busy weeks in their respective districts, the Ardmore Lady Tigers and Plainview Indians decided to take part in some tournament action on Friday.

After enduring busy weeks in their respective districts, the Ardmore Lady Tigers and Plainview Indians decided to take part in some tournament action on Friday. 

Both teams were among the field for the annual Plainview Invitational tournament, which took place this year at the Ardmore Regional Park softball complex. 

Ardmore 12
Thackervillle 2 F/4

The Ardmore Lady Tigers started off the tournament with a bang, easily winning against the Thackerville Lady Wildcats in four innings.

Ardmore fell behind early in the first inning with two runs, but the Lady Tigers came back in a big way with 10 runs in the second inning, followed by two more in the fourth.

Reagan Lewis led the offense for Ardmore, going 2-for-2 at the plate with four RBI and one run scored.

Makila Case finished 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI, while Kalie Douglas was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a pair of RBI’s.

Emma Nightengale also had an RBI for the Lady Tigers.

Jacy Johnson got the win in the circle for Ardmore, throwing four innings. She allowed two runs (0 earned) on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

In a rare occurrence, the Lady Tigers and Lady Indians from Plainview met up in the second round of the tournament.

Both teams brought the offense early, but it was a three-run second inning and a four run third inning which ultimately gave Plainview a 9-5 victory.

Avery Lowe and Kalie Douglas gave Ardmore a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning with a pair of RBI hits.

Taryn Martin made it 2-1 for Plainview when she scored on a throwing error following a bunt by Lexi Hackney, before Leah Selensky tied the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the first.

Brooklyn Storts gave Plainview a 4-2 lead with a two-RBI single to left center field, before Dalia Daniels made it 5-2 with an RBI bloop single. 

Lowe got Ardmore back in the game with an RBI double in the top of the third, before Makila Case got an RBI groundout to make it 5-4 in the third.

However, Plainview had an answer in the bottom half of the third.

Brooke Castillo scored on a throwing error, before Hackney got an RBI bloop single to make it 7-4.

Brooklyn Storts then scored on a double steal, before Tatum Brewster later scored on a throwing error.

Emma Nightengale scored Ardmore’s final run of the game when Lauren Blankenship drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the fourth. 

Savannah Marris took the loss for Ardmore in the circle, throwing three innings. She allowed three earned runs on 10 hits with two walks. 

Riley Grant got the win for Plainview pitching, throwing four innings. She allowed three earned runs on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

Putnam City 4

Facing elimination, and their third game of the day, the Lady Tigers responded with a comfortable victory over the Putnam City Lady Pirates.

Ardmore took the lead in the top of the second when Kalie Douglas smashed a solo home run to left field.

The Lady Tigers scored seven more runs in the third, followed by one in the fourth.

Putnam City got its runs in the bottom of the third inning.

Savannah Marris finished the game with two RBI, while Nakayla Coleman, Avery Lowe, Makila Case, and Angelina Bruner also had one RBI.

Morris also got the win on the mound for Ardmore, throwing four innings. She allowed three earned runs on five hits with three walks and two strikeouts.

Marlow 8
Ardmore 3

Despite taking an early lead, the Lady Tigers weren’t able to take down the Marlow Lady Outlaws in their fourth game of the day Friday, and were eliminated from the tournament.

Ardmore took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Avery Lowe got an RBI single to left.

Marlow tied the game in the bottom of the first with sacrifice fly RBI.

The Lady Outlaws were in front in the bottom of the second at 2-1, before adding two more runs in the third to make it 4-1.

Savannah Marris got the Lady Tigers back in the game with a two-RBI double to left in the top of the fourth, but four runs by Marlow in the bottom half of the inning sealed the victory.

Jacy Johnson took the loss on the mound for Ardmore, throwing 3 2/3 innings. She allowed five earned runs on 11 hits with five walks and one strikeout.

Calera 2 

As for the Lady Indians, they were able to remain undefeated in the tournament with a narrow victory over Calera to end the first day of competition.

Taryn Martin put Plainview in front 1-0 in the bottom of the first when she scored on a passed ball.

Brooklyn Storts doubled the lead with a sacrifice fly RBI in the third, before Tatum Brewster hit a hard ground ball which resulted in an error, allowing Dalia Daniels to score. 

Brinkley Campbell then hit a fly ball which also resulted in an error later in the inning, allowing Brewster and Leah Selensky to score to make it 5-0.

Calera got one run in the fourth and one in the sixth.

Riley Grant got the win on the mound for Plainview, throwing six innings of work. She allowed two runs (0 earned) on three hits with two strikeouts and three walks.
