After earning two convincing district victories earlier this week, the Lone Grove Lady Horns decided to challenge themselves on Saturday.

After earning two convincing district victories earlier this week, the Lone Grove Lady Horns decided to challenge themselves on Saturday.

Lone Grove made its way to the Stillwater Festival, and took on a couple of 6A powerhouses in Southmoore and Yukon.

Lone Grove is back in action at 5 p.m. Tuesday at home against Byng in district play.

In the first game of the day, Lone Grove made a strong statement with a four-run victory against Southmoore.

Despite going down 1-0 in the first inning, Lone Grove responded in a big way with a seven run third inning.

Logan Graves gave the Lady Horns the lead when her ground ball resulted in an error, allowing a pair of runs to score.

Abbi Atkinson then added to the lead when she brought home a pair of runs on another ground ball which resulted in an error.

It was 5-1 when Paige Anderson slapped an RBI double to center, before Logan Ketchum got an RBI double of her own.

Lone Grove finished off the inning when Emily Burns got an RBI single.

Southmoore tried to respond with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the rally was stopped.

Emmy Guthrie threw a complete game on the mound, allowing two earned runs on six hits.  She also allowed five walks with 10 strikeouts.

Things didn’t go as smoothly in game two  for Lone Grove against the Yukon Lady Millers.

Despite holding an early 3-1 lead, the Lady Horns couldn’t keep Yukon down.

Malea McMurtrey, Logan Graves and Emmy Guthrie all had RBI’s in the game.

Logan Ketchum took the loss pitching for Lone Grove.
