After enduring a tough stretch in district play last week, the Sulphur Lady Bulldogs got back to basics on Monday.

Sulphur improved to 15-5 overall and 4-2 in district play with a pair of 10-0 victories over the Madill Lady Wildcats at the Madill softball complex.

The Lady Bulldogs are back in action at 5 p.m. today at home against Plainview, while Madill will host Ada in a district doubleheader. 

Game one

The Lady Bulldogs wasted little time in taking the lead in the opening game, as they scored two runs in the top of the first inning.

Macenzie Ruth got Sulphur on the board with an RBI triple to left, before Kinlee Duck got an RBI single to center.

It wasn’t until the top of the fourth when the Lady Bulldogs struck again, this time with eight more runs.

Ruth and Duck were once again at the center of the scoring for Sulphur as Ruth made it 3-0 with an RBI single before Duck brought home a pair of runs off a ground ball which resulted in an error.

Abby Beck and Ally Dixon then hit back-to-back RBI singles to make it 7-0.

Harley Beesley then made it 8-0 when her ground ball resulted in an error, before Dixon scored following Shallen Mershon drawing a bases loaded walk.

Meredith Jones finished off the scoring with an RBI single to right field.

Beesley got the win on the mound for Sulphur, throwing four innings. She allowed just one hit with three walks and four strikeouts.

McKenzie Reed took the loss for Madill in the circle, also throwing four innings. She allowed 11 hits with two walks.

Game two

Sulphur once again had a strong offensive performance to finish off the sweep in game two.

Three straight innings of scoring put the Lady Bulldogs in front and kept them there throughout.

Kinlee Duck got an RBI groundout in the bottom of the first inning, before Sulphur added five runs in the second.

Meredith Jones, Makella Mobly, and Macenzie Ruth all had RBI singles to make it 4-0, before Abby Beck then got a two-RBI single to right to make it 6-0.

Mobly struck again in the third with an RBI single, before Ruth hit a ground ball which resulted in an error, allowing Paisley Runyan to score.

Duck finished the game off with a two-RBI double to center.

Blakelyn Barber got the win in the circle for Sulphur, throwing four innings. She allowed one hit with two walks and three strikeouts.

Mobly finished the game going 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs scored and two RBI.

Duck and Beck were both 1-for-2 at the plate, while Ruth was 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Emile Johnson took the loss for Madill pitching, throwing three innings. She allowed seven earned runs on seven hits with five walks.
