Alan Ray McKown was born Sept. 20, 1963, to Linda (Gunsolus) and James McKown in Ardmore. He passed from this life on Aug. 28, 2018, at the age of 54.

Alan was a graduate from Dickson High School in the class of 1982. Upon graduation he attended Parker Chiropractic College where he obtained a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. On June 22, 1984, Alan married the love of his life, Laurie Nichols, in Ardmore. From this marriage they had two children, Alex and Levi. Alan was a member of the Dickson School Board which he served proudly for 18 years.

He may not have gotten to come home, but he is in his heavenly home now where he will be whole again. We were blessed with the time we had with him. He has touched so many people in amazing ways. He will always be a truly great man. We couldn’t be any prouder to have called him husband, father and friend.

Alan was preceded in death by his father James R. McKown; grandparents Dorothy and Ray McKown and Martha and Lester Gunsolus; uncle Jim Word; cousin Luke Word; and niece Beth Knight.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Laurie McKown; daughter Dr. Alex Eubanks and her husband Chad; son Levi McKown and fiancé Kennedy Whitlock; mother Linda McCleskey and her husband Joe; brother Dr. Michael McKown and his wife Alonie; and grandson Hunter Eubanks.

Chad Eubanks, Bill Lee, Chris Young, Darryl Burkett, Trevor Riddle, and Nathan Trout will serve as pallbearers.
