While the Springer Lady Cardinals haven’t been playing softball as an official program very long, that didn’t stop them from making some history Tuesday afternoon.

Springer won its first game as a softball program, a 13-4 victory on the road against Mill Creek, bringing them to 1-2 on the season.

The Lady Cardinals scored five runs in the first, followed by three in the second and five more in the third.

Mill Creek had its runs in the first and third innings.

Maggie Suter went 1-for-3 in the game, with Kayla Webb going 1-for-2 with three runs scored.

Taylor Koonce scored two runs in the contest, while Kamryn Sampson was also 1-for-2 with a walk and three runs scored.

Kailee Lathum went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, while Ricki Smith and Madelyn Hoage both went 1-for-2.

Madison Wickware also finished 1-for-1 with a run scored.

Koonce got the win on the mound for the Lady Cardinals.
