On a day when clouds were covering much of the sky, the Wilson Lady Eagles decided to bring themselves some sunshine in the form of some offense.

Wilson snapped a two-game losing streak with their biggest offensive output of the season, winning 17-4 against Marietta in four innings, moving them to 8-8 on the season.

Taylor O’Steen got the Lady Eagles on the board in the top of the first inning with a two-RBI double to left field, before Taylor Wolf made it 3-0 with an RBI bunt single.

Maci Gunter finished off the inning with an RBI groundout.

However, Marietta came back with an immediate response in the bottom half of the inning.

Clara Perez made it 4-1 with a steal of home, before Kaylie Douglass got an RBI single to make it 4-2, before eventually scoring on another steal of home.

Wilson responded though in the second when Courtney Cheater-Carlile scored on a steal of home to make it 5-3, before Morgan Nipp also scored in the inning to make it 6-3.

Marietta got a run back in the bottom of the second to make it 6-4.

Jacqlyn Turpin however had other ideas for the Lady Eagles as she restored a four-run advantage in the third when she got a two-RBI triple to left.

Wilson would eventually score seven more runs in the inning, with Kendra Wright and Nipp each getting RBI hits and each scoring later in the frame.

O’Steen and Katelynn Hacker would also score in the same inning to make it a 14-4 Wilson lead.

Nipp got an RBI triple in the top of the fourth, before later scoring. O’Steen then collected another RBI hit, this time a triple to left field to make it 17-4.

Perez would get one more run across for Marietta in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single. 

O’Steen finished the game 3-for-3 with three RBI’s and two runs scored to lead the Lady Eagles.

Wolf went 2-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI, with Turpin going 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI’s. 

Clara Perez went 1-for-2 with a run scored and one RBI in the game for Marietta, with Kami Pena also going 1-for-2 in the game with a run scored for the Lady Indians along with Karley Riley who also went 1-for-2 in the game. 

Destiny Colbert got the win on the mound for Wilson, throwing two innings of work. She allowed four earned runs on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Sunny Charles threw two innings of relief, allowing one earned run on three hits. 

Carslee Minyard took the loss for Marietta, allowing 11 hits with one strikeout and five walks. 

Wilson is in action at 4 p.m. Thursday at Maysville, while Marietta will play at the Lake Country Conference tournament at 11:30 a.m. Thursday against Comanche at the Plainview softball field.
