A Celebration of Life for Shirley Ann (Scott) Flowers, 80, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, at the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home with Mr. Myles Chaney officiating.

Shirley was born Oct. 5, 1937, to Robert Weslie Scott and Marjorie Marie (Dill) Scott and passed away on Sept. 10, 2018, at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 5 days.

A resident of the Ardmore area most of her life she attended Ardmore Schools until the 10th grade, then transferred to Dickson. She and Norman Thomas Flowers were married Mar. 15, 1954, and had celebrated 64 years of marriage. To this union four children were born; Stanley Allen Flowers on born June 2, 1955, Robert Weslie Flowers on Aug. 26, 1957, Laura Ann Flowers Ellis on Feb. 12, 1963., and Charity Dawn Flowers Chaney on Sept. 17, 1975.

Shirley was a freelance artist and worked mostly at home so she could be with her children. She always said her children were most important and tried to “Be There” for them. 

She fought a gallant battle against a series of strokes, for 8  1/2 years.

She is survived by her husband, Norman of the home; all four children; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Vernon Davis of Lone Grove; one sister, Carolyn Love of Thackerville. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Jean Rose and Marolyn Ellis.  She will be greatly missed by many friends and all her family.

The family will receive friends  from 6-7 p.m. Thursday evening at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
