Ultimately, it was the Madill Wildcats coming away with their second straight victory as they escaped Comet Field with a narrow 26-25 victory.

Mateo Fajardo got the scoring started with a 54-yard touchdown run, before adding the extra point to make it 7-0 for the Wildcats just 55 seconds into the game.

Dickson tied the game when Johnny Smith scored from 10-yards out to make it 7-7 at the 7:00 mark of the first quarter.

As time expired to end the first quarter, Madill was back in the lead when Ryan Shahan got a 47-yard interception return for a touchdown, giving the Wildcats a 13-7 advantage after the missed extra point.

Dickson though responded with Rusty Beard finding Spencer Throneberry for a 10-yard touchdown pass, tying the game at 13-13 at the 8:31 mark of the second quarter.

But Fajardo managed to get his second touchdown of the evening when he caught a pass from Asa Robertson for a seven-yard score, giving Madill a 20-13 lead after the extra point with 7:10 remaining before halftime.

Just before the break, Smith got the Comets back within striking distance as he scored from four-yards out to make it 20-19 after the extra point was blocked. 

In the third quarter, Madill got its second defensive touchdown of the evening when Seth Coleman scooped up a fumble and ran 45-yards for a touchdown, putting the Wildcats ahead 26-19.

With less than a minute to go in the third, Dickson was back within touching distance as Brandon Sullivan ran 64-yards for a touchdown, but the ensuing two-point conversion failed.

Fajardo finished with five carries for 57 yards on the night for Madill, with Fermin Lafittia leading the Wildcats with 16 carries for 62 yards in the game. 

Brandon Sullivan led the Comets with 24 carries for 174 yards on the night. 

Madill (2-1) will begin district play at 7:30 p.m. Friday night against Cushing at home, while Dickson (1-2) will also begin district play next week on the road against Coalgate against the Wildcats.
