Plano — Billie Louise (Grieder) Jones, 94, of Plano, Texas, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018.

She was born on July 20, 1924, to the late Samuel Emil and Ella Mae (Hignight) Grieder. Billie was a 1942 graduate of Ardmore High School. 

She went on to serve as a secretary to an Army Air Corp commander, and then transferred to Washington to work for the nuclear program. There is where she met her future husband, Luther G. Jones, who worked as a payroll officer, at the time. They married and eventually moved to Plano where Billie retired from Plano ISD, where she worked as a clerk for several years.

Billie was a member of First Baptist Church since 1972, where she was actively involved throughout the years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a life-long avid reader. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

In addition to her parents, Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Luther G. Jones in 2011; infant son; sisters, Pat (Jack) Sandlin and Sammie (Alvin) Herzmark. 

She will be greatly missed by her two sons, William Emil Jones of Plano, Texas, and Paul Jones (Debra Kaiser) of Ardmore; granddaughter, Kelli (Devin) Garrett; great-granddaughter, Kairi Garrett; nieces, Jeanette Herzmark and Martha (Johnny) Adams; nephew, Jackson Sandlin; and great nieces and nephews, Alex Herzmark, Samantha Herzmark, Jason Adams, Brian Adams, Justin Sandlin, Sam Sandlin and Rachel Sandlin.

Visitation will be held today from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Ted Dickey Funeral Home, 2128 18th St., Plano, Texas 75074. 

A graveside service will follow at  2:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore, with Dr. Craig Curry officiating.
